We are proud to introduce you to our dance instructors! Our instructors are all fully committed to inspire, challenge, and offer new experiences to each student.

At Releve’ we are fortunate to have bright, enthusiastic, and accomplished dance instructors. Our instructors strive to work hard to keep our studio fresh, and stay on top of new techniques and thrive to be better each coming year.

It is our goal to always inspire, share skills, creative abilities, imagination, and to help our dancers feel a sense of artistry and accomplishment.

ASHLEY COLLIER – Owner and Director

Ashley began her dance education at the age of 6, and began teaching dance at the age of 13. Her dance education includes many disciplines of dance: Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip-hop, Cheerleading, Modern, Lyrical & Acrobats. Ashley has won numerous titles such as: Petite Miss Dance – DMA Chapter 28, Teen Miss Dance America – Revolution Dance Competition & Miss Dance – Headliners Competition.

Ashley has traveled around the US competing and performing in New York City, Las Vegas, Washington DC, Gatlinburg TN, St. Louis & Branson, MO.  She is a Grain Valley High School graduate, where she was a 1st place state champion on the cheer squad. Ashley has received numerous dance scholarships. She has taken many master classes from top teachers and choreographers all around the country, in convention and teacher workshops.

Ashley performed with the Moscow Ballet Company, Russia in the Nutcracker. She was also a member of the Kacico Apprentice Company, performing in Kansas City. Ashley danced professionally with Nick Cave’s “Soundsuits” in 2010, for the Kansas City Arts Institute 125th Anniversary alongside Rachel Drummond.

Many of her students have gone on to win top overalls, with her winning choreography. Ashley’s vibrant and charismatic personality create the type of fun and inspiring atmosphere that Releve’ dancers appreciate with her friendly, open spirit thorough instruction, and love of dance. Watching her students learn and grow is something she is very proud of, and she is eager to see more of their accomplishments in the many years to come.

RACHEL DRUMMOND JANCEK- Assistant Director 

Rachel began her dance adventure at the age of 4. She started competing regionally and nationally at the age of 12, traveling around the United States, and receiving top awards. She received many awards in high school such as: NCA All-American for two years, UDA All-Star, and Best Leaps and Turns.

Rachel went on to continue her education in dance and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, with an emphasis in Ballet and Modern. She was also a cheerleader for the Roos at UMKC. Rachel has taught dance for 21 years. She is Vice President of Dance Masters of America Chapter 28, an organization dedicated to raising the standards of dance education in America. She has completed year two of Teachers Training School, and is also a National Certified Examiner. She worked under the Artistic Direction of Christine Palmer for many years eventually purchasing Craig Dance Studio in July of 2006. She then renamed it Releve’ Performing Arts. She danced professionally with Nick Cave’s “Soundsuits” in 2010, for the Kansas City Arts Institute 125th Anniversary.

Rachel’s choreography has won top scoring awards through the years. Her students have held many regional and national titles, later going on to purse professional dance careers, and college dance scholarships. She has adjudicated for the dance competition circuit within the Midwest and directed Dance Masters of America Chapter 28 title & Performing Arts Competitions.

Rachel even integrated the fine art of dance into a Northeast Kansas City Charter School. She has had students that have gone onto work for Kansas City’s Starlight Theatre, the premier entertainment treasure of the heartland.

When Rachel is not dancing, she works for a Medical Records Copy Service in Downtown Kansas City. Rachel truly loves the art of dance, and is fully dedicated to teaching it.

 SHANDI FINE – Assistant Director 

Shandi took her first steps into the world of dance at the age of 2, and hasn’t stopped dancing since. She has studied many forms of dance, and is skilled in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, clogging, musical theater, acrobats, improvisation, yoga, and modern. Shandi is a Grain Valley High School graduate, where she excelled as a varsity cheerleader all four years. She even placed 1st at state. Over the years she has received many dance scholarships, along with college and convention master classes. Her dancing has even taken her internationally, dancing on a cruise ship throughout Mexico! Her choreography has been recognized numerous times as a student, and now as a teacher, winning many first place awards and top overalls at competitions.

Shandi’s dance journey has allowed her to grace the stages as a principal dancer in “The Magic Of Christmas” with the Kansas City Symphony. She also danced professionally with Kacico Dance Company. She has performed in Los Angeles, California, in the annual LADI Dance Festival. She has also performed with the Fort Worth Dance Company in Texas.  Shandi was selected as a soloist to perform, “Stifling” by choreographer Peter Kaulivas from San Diego, California.

Shandi is a valuable asset to the Releve’ staff, co-directing the Encore Dancers, Inc. We are very fortunate to be able to have her teach and share her knowledge, and experience with our students. She teaches technique class and choreographs for the competitive E

TRISA GANNAWAY –

Trisa began dancing at the age of 3. She started competing at the age of 6 both regionally, and nationally. She has received many top awards. She continued her dance training at Craig Dance Studio/Releve’ Performing Arts until she graduated from Truman High School in Independence, MO in 2011.

Trisa has traveled around the United States taking many master classes, as well as being selected for a dance scholarship in Chicago. She was a member of the Truman Starsteppers Dance Team for 4 years of high school, winning 1st at regional, state, and national levels.

She has received several NDA technique, showmanship and All-American awards with her dance team. Trisa has been teaching dance for a decade, has choreographed, and guest taught for several top local dance teams and studios.

Trisa has a vast knowledge of dance and inspires Releve’ dancers with each class!

CRYSTAL JULO –

Crystal Escobar started her dance career at the age of three and has trained in all areas of dance. Crystal has received many awards, including Best choreography, Best personality, Most entertaining, and Most photogenic. She has performed in “The Nutcracker” and  in the production of “The Wizard of Oz.” She has traveled to and performed in Cancun and Cozumel, Mexico, as well as Jamaica.  In 2000 Crystal was asked to audition for Starsearch. In high school she was a four-year varsity letter winner in Cheerleading at William Chrisman in Independence, MO. While cheering there, she earned two regional titles. In 2006, her team won the state championship at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Crystal was also named an All American her senior year, as well as being twice-named to Who’s Who Among High School Athletes in her career. Later in 2006, her team ranked in the top 20 in the nation for high school cheerleading teams. Crystal was William Chrisman’s homecoming queen in 2006 and Vice President of her class. Crystal was a member of the Northwest Missouri State University dance company in 2007, winning best leaps in her company. From 2008-2012 Crystal was a member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City dance team. In 2012 the UMKC Dance Team was ranked 2nd in the nation at UDA in Orlando, FL  

Crystal has done both dance and cheer choreography for the Independence, MO, Lee’s Summit, MO and Olathe, KS school districts. For many years she has worked for dance studios teaching all categories, but specialized in stretch, conditioning, acrobats, and technique. Crystal graduated from The University of Missouri-Kansas City with a bachelor’s degree in Communications (Interpersonal and Public). From 2012-2015 Crystal took on a career as a high school broadcasting teacher and was the head coach of the cheer and dance program at Van Horn High School in Independence. She currently is a Patient Relations Coordinator for HCA Hospitals and is the head coach for the cheer and dance program at Lone Jack High School.
